NORWICH, UK – July 2008 – Representing the only UK act to advance to the third round of Lollapalooza’s Last Band Standing contest, Norwich’s rock act .Sub is one step closer to play on the same bill as Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, The Ting Tings and more. The band, fronted by Adam Chamberlain, was hand picked as the sole UK-representing band to move on to a fan-voting round that ends Sunday July 13 and includes 20 acts from across the US, Puerto Rico and Brazil.
Last Band Standing, Lollapalooza’s online Battle of the Bands, is powered by Sonicbids and gives bands from around the world the chance to be heard – and judged – by web visitors. At the end of the multi-round, two-month campaign, two lucky and worthy bands earn prize spots on stage at Lollapalooza.
Contestants endure three rounds of online voting at Lollapalooza.com by fans and celebrities/guest panelists like Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction) and members of The Recording Academy, before reaching the finale event. Five finalists will meet in Chicago on July 30 for a live rock skirmish at the Double Door, where fans and celebs will cast the deciding votes.
The three-day Lollapalooza Festival will showcase a diverse array of talent from across the globe. Lead by Radiohead – on the first stop of the second leg of their U.S. tour – Rage Against the Machine, Kayne West, and Nine Inch Nails, other big-name acts include The Raconteurs, The Ting Tings, Love and Rockets, Gnarls Barkley, Bloc Party, The Black Keys, Broken Social Scene, Lupe Fiasco, Flogging Molly, G. Love & Special Sauce, Mark Ronson, and Cat Power.
