Lisa has been in the bands, Broad, and Party Dolls. She’s also opened for the Smothers Brothers and the Charlie Daniels Band at the, “Southern Rock Festival”
You might have also seen her singing backing vocals for artist Billy Joel. She appeared with him on the TV show Saturday Night Live and also in his, “All About Soul” video.
Her first solo release was, A Rose By Any Other Name. Lisa wrote 6 out of the 9 songs found on it. On her new EP, Wisdom From the Pain her press material says that, “Lisa Coppola fulfills her lifelong dream to go Country.” While New Jersey isn’t the first state that you think of when you think country music, Lisa’s style of country is more modern mixed with singer-songwriter and pop elements.
This 5-tracks EP gets started with, “When You Were Mine,” a pop country flavored song that deals with reminiscing about the great feelings associated with first love.
Next up is ‘”Temporary Heartache” another pop meets country song. After that comes “Your Love is Like a Rodeo” as you might expect with rodeo in the title this is the most country sounding song found on the EP. It deals with that kind of love where you know it would be best to let go of it but you just can’t make yourself do it.
The EP’s title track, “Wisdom from the Pain,” was co-written by Lisa, Mark Conklin (veteran songwriter) and Anthony Krizan (former Spin Doctors’ guitarist). Krizan along with artist John Waite also co-wrote the songs, “When You Were Mine,” and “Your Love is Like a Rodeo”.
Things wrap up with, “Make This Moment (To Love Again)” a ballad on which Lisa gets some vocal help from her fellow Party Dolls, Christine Ghilino, Judy Wilson and Kim Latiano on the vocals.
If you like your country with a pop edge, and artist like, Faith Hill, Sheryl Crow, Martina Mc Bride, and Jewel, then Lisa Coppola’s music is just what your looking to hear.
