From Dawn To Dust is the debut release from this girl with attitude. Like the old-time rubik’s cube puzzle her music is a little bit hard to figure out at first. Her music is a mixture of pop punk, rock, and alternative that often walks on the darker side of life with its subjects.

Hailing from, ‘Motor City USA’ Detroit, Michigan Black has an eclectic list of musical influences listed on her MySpace site including everyone from family members to The Beatles, and Johnny Cash, to Evanescence, Jimmy Eats World, and Foo Fighters to name just a few.

From the song titles and lyrics of the songs found on From Dawn To Dust it looks like Black has had to deal with a lot of life’s tough side. Subjects like, addiction, suicide, and bad relationships are dealt with in the songs. Black has learned to live in the moment believing that there is no such thing as the, ‘American Dream.’

As for the music found on this CD it’s filled with hooks that snag you in and choruses that keep you there that drive the 12 songs found on From Dawn To Dust.

The hard driving guitar parts along with power drumming match well with Black’s strong vocals. Black’s vocals fit well with the songs whether she’s belting it out loud rock n’ roll style or slow and soft in a ballad.

The music found on From Dawn To Dust offers up a lot both with, its music and song lyrics that will have you thinking while being entertained.
