ANTI-EVERYTHING SET TO RELEASE FIRST FULL LENGTH PUNK ROCK ALBUM FROM THE SHORES OF THE CARIBBEAN

Punk Rock band Anti-Everything from the small island state of Trinidad and Tobago is set to break new ground as the first independent band from the West Indies to release a full length punk rock album.

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago – October 2009. Independent punk rock band ‘Anti-Everything’ is set to release its self-published debut album titled ‘The International Conspiracy to Push You Down’. The album is carded for release on November 16th 2009. Digital distribution will be though Amazon, the iTunes Store, and the usual suspects in the digital distribution market. Physical distribution will also to make the album available in various regional retail outlets, as well as from CDBaby for international music fans. You can hear samples of music from Anti-Everything at http://www.myspace.com/antieverything

The International Conspiracy to Push You Down consists of thirteen original compositions from the band, with lyrical matter touching on various socio-political issues and the human experience of being faced with such challenges. Blending catchy melodies, hardcore vocals and aggressive guitar tones, the album is an amalgamation of various sub-genres, drawing on both the abrasiveness of old-school punk, and the accessibility of new-school punk. The album was recorded at Random Design Studios in Trinidad and Tobago, and was produced by Maarten Manmohan and Anti-Everything. The album’s tracks were mixed by Maarten Manmohan and Dan Coutant, and mastered by Dan Coutant. The record is self-published and completely self-financed, and the band is proud that the project has not been facilitated by any form of corporate sponsorship.

The lead single from the album is the track ‘Way Too Long’ – an energetic skate-punk anthem about resisting unjust authority and questioning imbalances in social power. The second single is the track ‘New Generation’ – a catchy upbeat acoustic guitar driven punk song about the struggle for identity and the search for solidarity in a world where culture and character are easily displaced. Unofficial singles also include the track ‘Everyday Citizen’ – a critique of modern day capitalism and its resulting erosion in human solidarity. For ‘Everyday Citizen’, as well as the appropriately named ‘Punk Rock Sucks’, the band enlists the assistance of New York’s Maximum RocknRoll journalist Mykel Board from the infamous underground old-school punk band Artless. The album also includes the fan favorite ‘Crowded’ – a hardcore track about the conflict between the various influences and interests in contemporary society that attempt to assert control over people’s lives.

The International Conspiracy to Push You Down comes at a perfect time, where the world is characterized by increasing economic uncertainty and growing concern over the inequities between the developed and developing world. Coming from the Caribbean region, which has never been associated with alternative music, the band and its debut album bring a new perspective to the international punk rock community. This perspective is one which demonstrates the reality that we live in a truly globalized world, where cultural differences are dissolved, and geographical boundaries are no longer a limitation to the reach of music, art and ideology.
