Playing at various venues all over New England as a Duo, Woodford Way has already created a cult following that is spreading like wildfire throughout the Berkshire area. After recording their acoustic duo album “The Road”, Woodford Way enlisted the talents of producer/ bass player Eric Arena, Riley Godleski on drums, and Tim Lynch on percussion to fill out their sound.

Recording their brand new yet to be titled album at Zing studios in Westfield, MA for the first time as a 5 piece folk act.

“Having Eric and Riley on board really added so much to the band and kept me on my toes”, Kyle says about adding the new members. “This was something Woodford Way was looking to do for years and it’s our best work to date”.

Singer-songwriter Daniel Schamroth’s much anticipated debut EP ‘Common Knowledge’ is now available as a free download via SoundCloud for a limited time only.

Daniel from Devon in the UK delivers six brand new tracks, produced by Danny Hembrow and mastered by Pete Maher (U2/Beady Eye/The Rolling Stones).

The songs are acoustic and emotive with Daniel’s distinctive vocals weaved around luscious guitars and strings. From the instantly catchy opening track “Flicker” to the intimate ballad “Cold Wind Blowing” through to the more thumping “Heart’s Desire”, Daniel displays a variety of influences yet still retains his distinctive and vivid stripped back sound, having been likened to ‘a more sane version of Noel Gallagher’ with echoes of Ryan Adam’s and Richard Ashcroft along the way.

His debut EP ‘Common Knowledge’ certainly confirms Daniel as a fast emerging song writing talent. With each track comes a different colour and mood, the themes of his song writing exploring (amongst other things) love, loss, hope and friendship. On first inspection ‘Common Knowledge’ promises to be the perfect laid back sing-along soundtrack for the summer and beyond… This is one for the lazy Sunday or the late night after party.

His debut music video “Cold Wind Blowing” has been causing a stir on YouTube with thousands of views already notched up. BBC Introducing’s James Santer described “Cold Wind Blowing” as; “An incredible track”. Whilst FMDB.co.uk voted it MP3 of the day, proclaiming; “Daniel Schamroth‘s debut cinematic tune ‘Cold Wind Blowing’ is heavenly, you can listen to it and feel instantly calmed, Daniel’s voice is something rare, and I’ll be stunned if this little wonder isn’t discovered pretty soon. An Acoustic singer-songwriter from Devon who may have a massive, life changing journey ahead.” ‘Common Knowledge’ offers a fleeting glimpse of Daniel Schamroth’s song writing skills and we can expect big things in the not too distant future from this boy with a guitar from Devon.

Title: ‘Tango Blues’
Website: http://www.gypsycarns.com

Overall Album Vibe:

On his latest release, ‘Tango Blues,’ preaching blues artist Gypsy Carns takes a break from his normal style to put out an instrumental album that happened because he says, ‘this time around the Lord led me on a transcendental instrumental blues journey.” Gypsy also wanted to find a more rural setting so he ended up recording the release at Stump Whipped Studios that’s located on thousands of acres of woods in Porterville, Mississippi.

I’m sure that you’ve heard of a one man band before with Gypsy this was a one man album with him taking full reins on the project writing all of the songs along with playing all of the instruments found on it. The list of instruments played is impressive from normal ones like, guitars, dobros, tambourine and harmonica to some more unusual ones like, rain stick, washboard and rattlesnake tails. Gypsy also decided that instead of using a traditional drum kit for the percussion parts he went with a stompbox along with American Indian and African drums.

Another unique feature of the album is that Gypsy decided to name the songs for his family and friend’s names. On, “Angel Caroline,” that starts with bird like chirping sounds, Gypsy paints a picture of love for his wife. The blues filled, “The Boot Boogie,” features unique rattlesnake tails sounds on it. The releases longest track, “Moon & Stars (4:29),” offers up a sound that paints a picture that reminded me of an old west gunfight scene from a movie with the sharp harmonica parts used in it acting almost like gunfire. “Texas Tom,” is a big blues, foot stomping number. I also like the closing up tempo blues rock track, “Ezra Fire Wheel.”

Whether you’re a longtime follower of Gypsy’s music or a newcomer you’ll quickly learn that this man has the talent necessary to make his signature guitar and dobro sounds come to life.

Like an artist uses a paint brush Gypsy uses his instruments to paint musical pictures with each new chord played.

Overall Album Vibe: ‘

Say Hello’ is the 8-song debut release from the Durham, UK band known simply as Alexander. The Indie pop rock sounding release is found on I Am Mighty Records. The band gets things steaming full speed ahead right from the opening title track, “Say Hello,” with it’s up tempo guitar and drum filled rock beats. Other notable rocking tracks include, “You Lost Yourself,” that offers up a nice blend of both pop and rock beats along with the all out rocker, “Without a Parachute.” If you’re looking for something smoother the aptly named, “A Sweet Song,” is a nice melodic acoustic track offering up soft, yet still emotion packed, vocals. The album’s closing song, “Old Fashioned Romance,” also goes in a more mellow direction lead by its piano parts.

Alexander’s, ‘Say Hello,’ offers up a nice collection of Indie pop rock songs the way they should be done.

Standout Tracks: “Say Hello”, “You Lost Yourself”, “A Sweet Song”, “Without a Parachute”, “Old Fashioned Romance”,

Title: ‘Feathers & Fables’ EP
Website: http://www.nickpeaymusic.com

Overall Album Vibe: ‘Feathers & Fables’ is the follow up to Louisville based singer songwriter Nick Peay’s 2011 EP, ‘Life & Love & Us.’ Some of you might also know Peay from his time spent as frontman for the rock group OK Zombie.

Peay’s new, ‘Feathers & Fables’ EP offers up 4 tracks in which he’s not afraid to lay his emotion cards on the table for all to see. Letting his feelings known to us of trying to find his spot in the very small, cliquish type community, where he lives.

When asked about the EP’s theme Peay said, “It’s about being accepted and finding your place at home.” continuing on saying, “whether it’s an actual location, or within a family or group of people who accept you and love you for who you are.”

Things start off with the EP’s most up tempo track, “(Two Miserable) Blackbirds,” that offers up a Bryan Adams type rock sound. Track-2, “Mockingbird,” is an acoustic track that features nice guitar, Dobro, harmonica and bongos parts in it. Lyrically the song talks about cover bands that offer up a very generic sounding version of the more famous band’s songs that they’re trying to cover. Track-3, “Home,” takes the EP in a moody dark direction featuring interesting harmonica and slide guitar parts that help to set the song’s mood. The song deals with trying to find your niche in life. The closing track, ‘Fly Away,’ deals with taking a step back and reassessing your position when you find yourself in a bad spot in your life and trying to find a way to rise above it.

Title: ‘What You Gonna Do?’
Website: http://www.crankshaftmusic.com

Overall Album Vibe: Twin Cities band Crankshaft and the Gear Grinders blends American roots music ranging from, blues and country to swing and rock n’ roll. The uniqueness of this album starts from the actual recording of it. Looking to avoid a, ‘sterile studio sound,’ band frontman and songwriter Alex ‘Crankshaft’ Larson found an old barn (built in 1914) located near St. Francis, Minnesota as the place to record the album. After some much needed cleanup and work they had it ready to use. If you get a hard copy of the album be sure to read the Cd’s booklet that includes pictures of the barn’s transformation from start to finish.

Highlight tracks from ‘What You Gonna Do?’ include the fast paced, 50′s rockabilly sounding song, “When the Sun Goes Down.” The song deals with handling life’s test, doing what you have to do to overcome the situation. The percussion driven track, “Boomtown,” offers up nice rhythmic beats. “Trails of Tears,” is an electric guitar driven blues track dealing with a dark part of American history that involved forced relocation and movement of entire Native American nations from southeastern parts of the United States to what is now the state of Oklahoma. Along the march many of the Native Americans faced terrible suffering with many of them dying during the forced march. “I Wanna Play,” offers up a New Orleans sound with lyrics about not wanting to sell out or settle down and have kids, wanting to stay carefree in life. “Waiting for Me,” uses an alt. country vibe as it deals with long gigs and really looking forward to getting home to your wife. “Earthquake Shake,” is a killer guitar and organ filled party tune.

Crankshaft and the Gear Grinders really hit on all cylinders in the songs that make up, ‘What You Gonna Do?’ The only track that went over the top of my head was track-10, “Don’t Leave,” that last for 42 seconds and just didn’t seem to flow with the rest of the album.

(New York, NY) – Defiler will join Emmure on tour along with Born of Osiris and City in the Sea. The tour will kick off June 22nd in Knoxville, TN. Defiler will be performing the first half of the tour (tour dates below).

In May, Defiler will be on the I Wanna See You Mosh Tour in Russia kicking off on May 10th in Kiev, Ukraine and wrapping up with a show with Parkway Drive on June 2nd in Minsk, Belarus.

This is Defiler’s first time touring outside of the United States.

Defiler’s new studio album, Nematocera (Razor & Tie), is out now on iTunes HERE (http://glob.ly/2zG). The band self-produced the record with mixing duties being handled by Chris “Zeuss” Harris (Suicide Silence, Chelsea Grin, The Acacia Strain).

Nematocera has received rave reviews with Metal Sucks stating, “It may be decades before a band can rival Defiler.” Revolver Magazine has compared the band’s sound “akin to that of Suicide Silence and Chelsea Grin. Jake Pelzl gives listeners remarkably deep growls with heavy lyrical content. But his band’s anger isn’t just in the words the group uses-it is in the musical foundation, with loads of chugs and breakdowns on Nematocera… will certainly resonate with younger heavy-music fans.”
