Cab 20 ‘Cactus’ EP Review
By C.W. Ross
Ripping up the Southern California independent music scene is Cab 20, a group of fresh faced guys that hail from El Segundo, CA. The band takes their style of garage rock music and pumps up the vintage element side of it to achieve their sound.
Their latest release, ‘Cactus,’ is a 4-song EP that includes two songs (“Gravedigger” & “Slow Song”) from their 2010 debut release, ‘Dirty Smiles,’ along with two new tracks.
The band achieves its big rock sound via distorted guitars with more fuzz then a juicy Georgia peach, that are joined by ‘The White Stripe’ styled sharp, hard-edged, pounding drum beats that are topped off with banging lead vocals.
While you’ll only find 4-tracks on this EP with the great music that’s jam packed into them you’ll find yourself playing them over-and-over again without ever getting bored or finding the need to search for something new to listen to.
Review Takeaway: Cab 20 is a rocking band that’s on the fast track to becoming a household name on the national music scene. Do yourself a favor and get onboard their musical train before you get left behind at the station.
