Music Review for Sean Michael Showalter- ‘Troubled Mind’ EP

Sean Michael Showalter- ‘Troubled Mind’ EP Review

By C.W. Ross

‘Troubled Mind’ is the debut EP from singer songwriter Sean Michael Showalter. Showalter was born in Washington DC but since 2002 has called Austin,Texas home. It wasn’t until age 19 that he picked up playing the guitar along with singing and writing songs.

Showalter’s music is mostly mid-tempo singer songwriter in style. His combination of acoustic guitar and thoughtful vocals achieve an inviting sound that draws you into his music.

While all 5-tracks found on the EP worked for me it was the last three that really brought things to another level.

“Tears Inside the Bottle”, is a roots rock/ blues feeling song that’s filled with passionate vocals. “Deanna”, is a touching track about dealing with the death of a loved one (wife). The carefree pop sounding track, “Wasted Land”, wraps things up.

Review Takeaway: Sean Michael Showalter comes out of the musical gate strong with the well done music that makes up his debut EP ‘Troubled Mind.’
