Music Review for Progressive Rock Band Chest Rockwell- ‘Laugh and the World Laughs with You’ EP

Chest Rockwell- ‘Laugh and the World Laughs with You’ Review

By C.W. Ross

Kentucky based band Chest Rockwell got their start in 2004 and since then have released several music projects. The band is back again with their latest, ‘Laugh and the World Laughs with You’ EP.

Chest Rockwell plays a version of progressive rock music with the emphasis being on the rock part with some jam band vibes added into the mix. Track-1 “Black Reign” is a good example of that mix. The 7:29 long song starts off with a rocking intro and also includes a lively guitar solo. The EP’s last track, “Cut It in Half,” also offers up some lively guitar parts on it.

My favorite track is, “Ultimo Hombre”, which translates in English to, ‘last man’. The up tempo track is filled with fat beats, amped up guitars and forceful vocals.

Review Takeaway: With their latest release, ‘Laugh and the World Laughs with You’, Chest Rockwell continues to show that they aren’t happy playing a one note brand of progressive rock music, with the end result being an attention grabbing entertaining sound.
