Music Review for Micah Massey- ‘Kingdom’

By C.W. Ross

Micah Massey has been a worship leader at various places including conferences, camps, retreats, and churches. From reading his bio. I can also tell that he has a good sense of humor with the first line of it reading- ‘I was born a baby’ and closes with, ‘The End.’

‘Kingdom’, is Massey’s debut release and it’s found on new label, Regenerate Music Company.

On ‘Kingdom’ you’ll find songs that range in style from pop/rock to soaring modern worship.

The one constant that runs through out all of the tracks is the genuine and sincere vocals from Massey. He isn’t singing just to be heard, he has the love of Jesus in his heart and needs to share it with others. His spiritual philosophy includes the fact that, ‘Worship without Justice is merely empty words. Justice without Worship is meaningless action.’

Highlight tracks for me included the more melodic piano driven tracks, “Kingdom” and “Purpose.” On the more up-tempo side I liked, “You Are The Way” and “You Never Fail.” If you’re looking for an all out jumping praise song then you’ll love listening to the track, “Lift Up.”

Review Takeaway: I like listening to albums that have the ability to pull different generations of listeners together and Micah Massey’s ‘Kingdom’ release has that rare trait with the varying musical styles and tempos that are found on it.
