Review for Christian Pop Rock Band Sidewalk Prophets New Release, ‘Live Like That’

Sidewalk Prophets ‘Live Like That’ Review

By C.W. Ross

Christian pop rockers Sidewalk Prophets are back with the follow up to their highly successful debut, ‘These Simple Truths,’ with their 12-track release, ‘Live Like That.’ Once again the band has brought onboard Dove Award winning producer Ian Eskelin (Francesca Battistelli).

With all of the songs found on ‘Live Like That’ having been written/ co-written by band members; Dave Frey and Ben McDonald you get a real good idea of just how deep the band members hearts are for living a passionate faith life.

Just like their debut release, the new one is already spawning mega hit singles. The first song that I’m sure you’ve already heard ripping up the radio airwaves is the release’s title track, “Live Like That.” The rocking track deals with wanting to live a Christ-like life filled with love and service to others. Knowing that when your time on earth is done that you’ve done all you could to further the kingdom.

“Love, Love, Love,” has an up-tempo catchy summer vibe to it that talks about being willing to help others, with lyrics like, ‘was I Jesus to everyone?’ Some of the background singing found on the track was done by fans of the band. You can also hear them again on the call-to-action worship anthem track, “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us.”

One of the more melodic songs found on, ‘Live Like That,’ is the closing track, “This is Not Goodbye,” a piano ballad that talks about this world not being our real home.

For those of you who are regular readers of my reviews you know that the way I like to review music is by listening to it, taking notes and putting stars by tracks that stood out as I listened to them. Usually I end up having two or three, maybe four stars by song titles but after listening to ‘Live Like That’ my paper looked like the American flag with all of the stars because honestly besides the opening track the 39 seconds prelude, “Hebrews 12:1” I enjoyed every track and could take something away from their lyrics.

Review Takeaway: Sidewalk Prophets’, ‘Live Like That’ is a must have release that entertains you while also opening up your heart and mind to living a passionate faith life.
