Point of Grace’s Latest Release, ‘A Thousand Little Things,’ Offers Up a Fresh Sound

Artist: Point of Grace
Title: ‘A Thousand Little Things’

Overall Album Vibe: It’s hard to believe that Point of Grace has been together now for 20 years with numerous awards, including an impressive 13 Dove Awards under their belt from the 11 previous albums that they’ve put out. They have undergone some lineup changes and changing from a quartet to a trio lineup over the years but have always managed to keep growing even stronger. The group’s latest release, ‘A Thousand Little Things,’ is their 12th record overall and their 9th studio release. Multi-award winning producer Ian Eskelin (Francesca Battistelli, Sidewalk Prophets) was brought onboard to helm the production side of things. The music found on, ‘A Thousand Little Things,’ offers up the group’s familiar contemporary sound with an under tow of a modern country sound (Taylor Swift, Martina McBride) along with a pop, light rock blend. Highlight tracks include: The up-tempo track, “Heaven Knows,” that offers up the often asked question, why do bad things happen to good people? The song talks about the need to not waste your time trying to figure out the why but instead being willing to let go of it and put it in God’s Hands. The album’s title track, “A Thousand Little Things,” deals with appreciating all of the little ways that God shows His presence in our life, like viewing a beautiful sunset. “What I Already Know”, is a soft ballad tune about first realizing and then relying on your faith. “Might Be Today”, lets the country side of Point of Grace come out strong with its mix of banjo and mandolin parts. The last track I want to mention is, “You Be the One.” The song is filled with a rich string sounds thanks to its, violins, viola and cello parts.

Review Tagline: On their new release, ‘A Thousand Little Things,’ Point of Grace tweaks their sound moving away from mainly harmony vocals to more individual ones with the result being an improved version of the group’s already well respected sound. In this Twitter world of 140 or fewer characters that we live in today I came compress my review into these 11 words- “You need to buy Point of Grace’s ‘A Thousand Little Things!”
Standout Tracks: “Heaven Knows”, “A Thousand Little Things”, “What I Already Know”, “Might Be Today”, “You Be the One”
