Artist: Xenia Dunford and the Eastern Exile
Title: ‘Lonely Streets’ EP
Overall Album Vibe: ‘Lonely Streets’ is the debut EP from Xenia Dunford and the Eastern Exile although Xenia released a self-titled EP in 2011 as a solo act. She decided though that she needed to spread her wings so she moved from Boston to Los Angeles also adding several members to her group. What you’ll find on ‘Lonely Streets’ is a collection of five songs that mix elements of pop, jazz, folk, Americana and country. The one constant that pulls it all together is Xenia’s vocals that emit a raw passionate tone. “The Only One” offers up a jazz-rock fusion with lyrics that reflect on the innocence of young love. The band says that their favorite track on the EP is the Blues/ Americana track, “High & Dry.” “Best I’ve Ever Had” is an up-tempo Americana/ country track about being in a relationship with someone that doesn’t love you as much as you do them and the frustrations that go along with living in that type of situation.
Review Tagline: ‘Lonely Streets’ offers up a nice taste of Xenia Dunford and the Eastern Exile’s musical style that isn’t afraid to take many different roads to paint their vivid pictures of life related issues.
Standout Tracks: “The Only One”, “High & Dry”, “Best I’ve Ever Had”
