Gitar Lets the Indie Music Fly on Their ‘Seen as Unclean’ Album

Artist: Gitar
Title: ‘Seen as Unclean’

Overall Album Vibe:

‘Seen as Unclean’ is the debut from the band Gitar, although they did previously release a limited EP entitled, ‘We Respect and Validate That.’

The band offers up an interesting sound thanks to the member’s influences. Moscow born Mikhail Galkin (bass, keyboards, editing, production) is an enthusiast of hip-hop music while fellow band member, Tia Lee (guitar) is a fan of punk music.

The album’s title comes from the band’s philosophy of, “For both of us, these songs reflect the fact that as indie artist we’re free to do what we want to do,” says Galkin. They also mention that some think that their music is, ‘unclean,’ since it doesn’t follow any normal standards or musical formulas.

Highlight tracks include the opener, “Theme from Gitar,” a 2-minute instrumental track featuring, surf guitar and jazzy saxophone parts. “Eyes of the World,” is a rhythmic track about people hiding behind their online persona. “Mr. Tourist” is an up-tempo synth infused hip-hop / rock track. “Get Low” is a guitar driven, mid-tempo song, that includes a nice guitar solo.

Review Tagline: Gitar really puts the ‘Indie’ in their music by not being afraid to push the normal bounds and formulas to achieve their sound.

Standout Tracks:”Theme from Gitar”, “Eyes of the World”, “Mr. Tourist”, “Get Low”,
