Artist: The Delta Routine
Title: ‘Cigarettes and Caffeine Nightmares’
Overall Album Vibe:
The Delta Routine’s third full-length release, ‘Cigarettes & Caffeine Nightmares,’ was recorded in the band’s hometown of Milwaukee and was produced by Mike Hoffmann (The Verve Pipe, Willie Porter) and Victor DeLorenzo (Violent Femmes).
The band takes their music in several different directions on, ‘Cigarettes and Caffeine Nightmares,’ from garage rock, power-pop and punk to folk and classic rock sounds.
It doesn’t take long for the musical fun to start on the album with the rocking opening track, “Waste Your Time,” that evokes memories of early Rolling Stones. Next up is the album’s title track, “Cigarettes and Caffeine Nightmares,” a bouncy alt rock number in the vein of Jane’s Addiction. Other highlight tracks include, “Rachael St. Joe,” a megaphone vocals filled track that has an alt rock sound along with a country vibe that floats around in the song’s background. The track, “Around Your Neck,” offers up an alt rock mixed with Southern rock style.
If you’re in the mood for something more mellow then give the songs, “I Wait Alone,” and “New York Avenue,” a listen.
