Artist: Western Avenue
Title: ‘Western Avenue’
Overall Album Vibe:
Canadian music act, Western Avenue, offers up a modern country sound that’s filled with great vocal harmonies thanks to their lineup of husband and wife members, Nikki English-Robertson, (vocals) and Keith Robertson, (guitar, vocals) along with Matt Williams (guitar, vocals).
All 4 of the songs that make up the bands self-titled debut EP really showcases those harmonies with the shared male/female lead vocals that are found on them.
The EP kicks off with the up-tempo track, “Highway,” about not settling, being a dreamer not afraid to follow your heart’s desires. “This I Promise You,” is another up-tempo piano lead track about overcoming the pain of lost love. Things slow down just a bit for track-3, “Wherever You Are,” a song about loving someone so much that you want to be with them all of the time. “Without Saying Bye,” is a touching track about the sudden death of a parent and being a guardian angel by your child’s side as they go grow up and go through their life. The track is mostly melodic but does offer up a nice electric guitar solo in it.
I really liked the modern country sound that I heard on Western Avenue’s EP and look forward to hearing future projects from the band.
