Artist: Mike Bino Project
Title: ‘Dawn of a New Day’
Even though this is the 5th album from the Mike Bino Project and features an all star line; Mike Bino – guitar (Rattlebone, Trippin on Dolls and XLR8), Tommy Doud – drums (from the band Pierce and Rattlebone), Joe Fischetti – vocals and Mike Lepond – bass (from the band Symphony X and Rattlebone) this is the first time that I’ve had the opportunity to hear their music.
While previous albums from them have been more hard edged and labled as hard rock/ metal, ‘Dawn of a New Day’ has a pop/ rock style found on it. Any rockers reading this don’t worry you’ll still get a big dose of rocking guitar solos that are found on several of the release’s songs.
The twelve tracks that make up ‘Dawn of a New Day’ create a flow of pop rock, almost 60’s vibed tracks like found on, “Undercover,” and “Misguided Ones,” along with all out rockers like, “Evil Woman,” and Silver Lining.” You’ll also find tracks that head down a different path like, “Funky Bino,” an instrumental track that unlike it’s title might suggest has more of a progressive rock feel then a funky vibe.
If your looking for an album that isn’t one tone and not afraid to try several different musical roads with it’s guitar driven sound then, ‘Dawn of a New Day,’ should keep you entertained.
