My Thoughts

College Softball Wrap Up

#1 Florida (22-0) remained undefeated and won the Invitational Tournament title this past weekend. As usual the team had great pitching and hitting outscoring their opponents, 44-5. Florida looks to be taking a serious run at three-peating this year with another championship trophy to add to their already crowded school’s showcase.

Auburn (20-1) continues to be a hitting terror destroying their opponents in often run-rule shortened games. Coach Clint Myers has the team rolling along the tracks with only a few elite teams maybe being able to stop them. In their recent weekend tournament games the team put up 44 unanswered runs and posted a 5-0 perfect record.

Alabama continues to cruise along with a record now of 20-2 thanks in part to star pitcher Alexis Osorio (7-0) who had a
career-high 16 strikeouts in Sunday’s game against Louisiana-Monroe ending with a 5-0 win for the Tide.

Tennessee (16-5) continues to confound me with big wins mixed in with puzzling losses. This weekend though the team was undefeated including a 4-0 win over St. Johns to capture the Tennessee Invitational Tournament.

In their latest game Texas suffered a loss to Texas State 5-9. Texas had a late innings rally but it fell short. Left handed team pitching ace Tiarra Davis took her only second loss of the season against 9 wins. Texas’ record now stands at 14-3.
